Royal Navy Sea Dart Missile System

Sea Dart from the bows
Sea Dart - side view

Description

Two views of the Sea Dart medium range area defence anti-aircraft missile system in it's dormant, unloaded state. The two outer mounting points take missiles which slide up from the magazine below the mounting which then elevate and rotate to track the incoming target. The missile itself has a range of around 80 km and can reach mach 3.5 with its solid fuel booster and ramjet engine. It is seen here mounted on a Sheffield-class Type 42 destroyer.
